I’ve been running Ubuntu and have been pretty happy on my laptop; but I’ve been thinking about trying to find a system that has Nemo better integrated. Nemo is the file manager for the Cinnamon desktop. So I gave Linux Mint another try. I noticed a significant change in the boot time. I have disabled some startup services and it’s closer to the speed of Ubuntu’s boot time, but still not as quick as I had it at. I got to thinking and googling and ran across Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix (*1). I’m downloading now and will see about installing to check it out. I’m hoping to get the quick boot times I was getting and still have full Nemo integration. I’m not especially fond of the Cinnamon Desktop, but I haven’t found another file manager I like as much as Nemo. I’ll come back and share my thoughts after it’s going.
